The winter sports season is officially over at WCHS, and it was a banner winter for Tiger teams and athletes. The girls basketball team won 24 games, the Hall of Fame Classic, the Lady Tiger Tournament and the Northern Lakes Conference for a fifth straight season. Joslyn Bricker ends her career as the all-time leading scorer, and Brooke Zartman finished second in scoring and tops in 3-pointers made. Both Bricker and Zartman were named to the Indiana All-Star team. The Tiger boys basketball team sent a young and inexperienced group onto the floor this season and finished with 13 wins and a runner-up finish in the sectional at Elkhart. The girls swimming & diving team won their sectional and sent swimmers Matilda Granger and Anna Stevens and divers Sophie Stewart and Titiksha Gorhe went to the State Finals. The boys swimming and diving team won the NLC for the first time since 1998, and also captured the sectional title. Warsaw sent a large contingency to the state finals highlighted by senior Ian Parrott winning the state championship diving competition and becoming just the second state champion from Warsaw in the pool. Also competing for Warsaw was the 200 Medley Relay team of Joshua Warner, Cannon Swinehart, Caelin Swinehart and Ethan Farrar; Caelin Swinehart in the 200 IM; Farrar in the 50 Free and 100 Free; Warner in the 100 Butterfly; the 200 Free Relay team of Farrar, Judah House, Jonah Potter and Caelin Swinehart ; Cannon Swinehart in the 100 Breaststroke and Skyler Kretsch in diving. The girls wrestling team had a very good second season as an IHSAA sport, highlighted by Mariana Castro's 5th place finish at the state finals. Tristan Wood, Ivahn Martinez, Alex Vallejo, Gabe Veit, Leo Castro and Enrique Silva all competed at the semi-state. The boys wrestling team finished 3rd in the NLC and 2nd in the sectional this winter. The gymnastics team sent three competitors to the regional this season, including Harper Espapule and Lilliana Rak in the All-Around competition, and Myra Marshall on the balance beam. And the competitive cheer squad finished 3rd in the state finals in the 60-second time-out division.
