The Warsaw Tigers responded in emphatic fashion Thursday night, traveling to Northridge and sweeping the host Raiders in straight sets, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23. The road win moves the Tigers to 10-7 on the season and marks a strong turnaround after a sluggish outing the previous night. “It was really exciting to see the team bounce back from the match last night,” said assistant coach Grace Pletcher. “It was a great win.” The Tigers showcased resilience and grit, particularly in the third set. Trailing 14-22, Warsaw mounted an inspired comeback to steal the set and secure the sweep. “I am impressed with how we were able to grind out the win in the third set,” said head coach Jason Fleming. “In the timeout I told them we were not going to lose this set. We are going to play everything to the end, and nothing hits the floor on our side without being touched.” Setter Andy Vass played a pivotal role in the victory, finishing the night with 25 assists, 3 aces, and 5 digs. Deniel Ruzza led the Tigers defensively with 15 digs while also contributing 4 kills from the back row. Levi Brath and Miles Rager provided a powerful offensive presence at the net, each recording 9 kills. Brath added 3 blocks, while Rager tallied 6. Logan Carl was a force defensively with 6 blocks and chipped in 3 kills and 9 digs. Finn Bailey contributed all-around with 5 kills and 7 digs. JV Wraps Season with a Win Earlier in the evening, Warsaw’s junior varsity squad wrapped up its season with a gritty three-set win over Northridge, 22-25, 25-15, 15-8. Patryck Bocianski highlighted the match with a program-record 8 aces to go along with 6 kills. Ryan Carnes set the tempo with 15 assists, adding 4 digs and 1 ace. Cadyn Greer added 6 kills and 2 blocks, while Ben Harlan finished with 5 kills. Nolan Haussmann was solid in the back row and front, recording 8 digs and 5 kills. Gus Rodriguez chipped in 5 digs to help secure the victory. With the JV season complete, the varsity squad now turns its attention to postseason play. Warsaw will take on the Penn Kingsmen next Wednesday in the second match of the opening round of sectional play at Elkhart High School.
