Boys Volleyball Goes 5 Sets Again, Adds Win at FW South Side

The Warsaw Tigers Men’s Volleyball team continued their run of five-set battles on Tuesday night, defeating the Fort Wayne South Side Archers on the road in a back-and-forth contest: 25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-10. The win marks the Tigers’ third consecutive five-set match and pushes their season record to 9-6. The Tigers came out strong, taking the opening set by a narrow 25-23 margin before trading sets with the Archers throughout the match. Warsaw showed resilience and composure in the decisive fifth set, pulling away to secure a 15-10 victory. Stat leaders for Warsaw were led by Finn Bailey, who turned in a standout all-around performance with 18 digs, 14 kills, and 3 aces. Setter Andy Vass kept the offense moving with an impressive 43 assists. Logan Carl delivered a major impact at the net and on defense with 22 digs, 7 kills, and 7 blocks. Deniel Ruzza contributed 15 digs and 4 kills, while Silas Hill chipped in with 15 digs and an ace. Levi Brath anchored the middle with 10 blocks and 12 kills, and Miles Rager put together a dominant night with 23 digs, 22 kills, and 8 blocks. “We passed the ball much, much better tonight compared to Tuesday,” said head coach Jason Fleming. “It was good to see the team come out focused and play a strong defensive match.” In JV action, the Tigers also emerged victorious, sweeping the Archers 25-21, 25-23. Ryan Carnes led the way with 9 assists and 2 aces. Nolan Haussmann added 8 digs and 6 kills, while Cale Meridew notched 6 digs and 2 aces. Gus Rodriguez contributed 5 digs, Cadyn Greer chipped in 5 kills and 3 blocks, Mac Tucker recorded 3 kills, and Patryck Bocianski added 3 more. The Tigers will look to carry their momentum into next week when they travel to Michigan City for a varsity match on Wednesday, May 7.
