Boys Volleyball Thriller Goes to the Tigers over Westville

In one of the most thrilling matchups of the season, the Warsaw Tigers went on the road and battled tooth and nail to secure a five-set victory over the Westville Blackhawks. The Tigers, now 8-5 on the season, won by scores of 17-25, 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 15-13 in a match that showcased relentless determination, fierce rallies, and a level of grit that kept fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish. This showdown was a true test of will, with both teams matching each other blow for blow, volley for volley. Long rallies and clutch plays defined the night, as each squad refused to let up. The Tigers fought with fire and passion from the first whistle to the final point, never backing down in the face of adversity. Statistically, the Tigers were fueled by an outstanding all-around team effort. Andy Vass quarterbacked the offense with 43 assists while contributing 15 digs defensively. Finn Bailey delivered an all-around performance with 2 aces, 15 digs, 4 blocks, and 7 kills. Miles Rager was nearly unstoppable at the net, racking up an incredible 34 kills and 11 blocks. Defensively, Deniel Ruzza was a standout with a team-high 25 digs and 5 blocks. Ricky Anacleto added 15 digs of his own, while Logan Carl anchored the middle with 16 digs, 10 blocks, and 7 assists. Levi Brath was a dominant presence at the net with 11 blocks and 13 kills, while Silas Hill added solid support with 8 digs and an ace. After the match, Head Coach Fleming praised his squad's intensity and heart: "I can't believe how hard each and every player on the court fought for every point," Fleming said. "These young men are amazingly surpassing the expectations for a first-year team." Earlier in the evening, the JV Tigers added their own dose of drama with a thrilling three-set win over the Blackhawks JV squad. After dropping the first set 19-25, the Tigers bounced back with a 25-17 win in the second. The final set saw Warsaw down 12-14 before mounting a clutch comeback to win 16-14. Ryan Carnes led the charge with 19 assists, spreading the ball effectively across the floor. Cadyn Greer put away 7 kills, while Mac Tucker added 6 kills and a dig. Patryck Bocianski tallied 6 kills and 3 digs, and David Hall chipped in with 6 digs and a kill. Ben Harlan rounded out the stat leaders with an ace, 3 kills, and 6 digs. The Tigers, both varsity and JV, showed poise, resilience, and unshakable spirit in a night of high-stakes volleyball, and they'll look to carry that momentum into their next matchup. The Tigers will be at home next Tuesday to host the Leo Lions on Warsaw’s Senior Night. The theme for Tuesday will be “Blackout.” Come and support the Tigers in their last home match of this amazing first season.
