Warsaw Men’s Volleyball Battles Hard in Four-Set Loss to Homestead WARSAW – In a match full of momentum swings and intense rallies, the Warsaw Tigers showed grit and resilience but ultimately came up short against a talented Homestead squad, falling 3-1 on their home court. Set scores were 21-25, 18-25, 26-24, 16-25. Each set was marked by scoring runs from both sides, with neither team giving in easily. Homestead jumped out early in the first two sets, capitalizing on a few key runs to put the Tigers on their heels. But Warsaw refused to fold. The third set was a turning point as Warsaw clawed back from a mid-set deficit. Fueled by strong defensive play and key net presence, the Tigers edged out a thrilling 26-24 win to keep the match alive. Homestead regained control in the fourth, but not without another battle, as Warsaw continued to contest every point until the final whistle. Stat leaders for the Tigers included Andy Vass with a team-high 21 assists, while Fin Bailey turned in a strong all-around performance with 7 kills, 10 digs, and 3 blocks. Ricky Anacleto added 11 digs and an ace, while Deniel Ruzza also recorded 12 digs on the night. At the net, Levi Brath and Logan Carl were key blockers, posting 4 and 5 blocks respectively. Brath added 3 kills, and Carl chipped in 4. Miles Rager had a standout performance, racking up 11 kills, 8 blocks, and 6 digs in an all-around effort that kept the Tigers in contention. Head Coach Jason Fleming praised his team’s determination and competitive spirit. “I was really impressed with how our guys kept fighting to the very end,” Fleming said. “It would’ve been easy to just let Homestead take the win, but every player challenged every ball and fought for every point. They made Homestead earn it tonight.” In the JV match, the Tigers also showed flashes of strong play, falling in two competitive sets, 21-25, 22-25. Ryan Carnes led the way with 6 assists and an ace. Nolan Haussmann delivered 3 aces, 3 digs, and 4 kills, while Cadyn Greer added 4 kills and Mac Tucker chipped in with 2 kills and 2 blocks. The junior varsity fell to the Spartans in two very close sets. The varsity squad will look to bounce back on the road this Thursday as they travel to Kokomo. First serve is scheduled for 6 PM.
