The Warsaw Tigers faced a challenging and competitive field over the weekend, finishing 1-3 in tournament play while gaining valuable experience against strong opponents. The Tigers now sit at 7-6 on the season. Warsaw opened pool play against Crown Point, where the Tigers struggled to find rhythm in a 14-25, 12-25 loss. In their second pool match, the Tigers showed improvement and battled point-for-point with Hammond Bishop Noll, narrowly dropping the first set 24-26 before falling 18-25 in the second. Moving into bracket play, Warsaw matched up with Chesterton but was unable to slow their momentum, falling 20-25, 19-25. The Tigers closed out the day on a positive note, earning a strong two-set victory over Westville, 25-16, 25-18, showcasing cleaner execution and renewed energy. Statistically, the Tigers were led by a balanced offensive and defensive effort. Patryck Bocianski recorded 27 assists and 5 aces, while Mac Tucker added 22 assists and 5 aces in orchestrating the offense. Ben Harlan contributed 15 kills and 3 aces, and Logan Carl delivered an all-around performance with 17 kills, 16 digs, and 3 aces. Cadyn Greer added 12 kills and 4 blocks, Levi Brath tallied 8 kills, and Nolan Haussmann chipped in 6 kills. Defensively, Silas Hill anchored the back row with an impressive 33 digs. Head Coach Fleming reflected on the day, stating, “There were definitely moments where we saw strong, high-level play from our group, but this tournament also showed us there are many areas we need to improve. It’s a great learning experience for our team as we continue to develop and prepare for the rest of the season.” The Tigers will look to build on the lessons learned and bounce back as they hit the road Tuesday to take on Leo.
