The Warsaw boys volleyball team opened the 2026 season on the road against host Carroll, showing promise and competitiveness despite falling in straight sets (25–27, 25–27, 20–25). The Tigers battled closely in the first two sets, demonstrating strong net play and resilience throughout the match. Junior middle blocker Cadyn Greer led the way with an impressive performance, tallying 6 kills and 3 blocks. He was supported by a strong effort from the senior middle hitter Levi Brath, who added 5 kills and 4 blocks at the net. Sophomore setter Patryck Bocianski contributed across the board with 3 kills, 3 blocks, and 9 assists, while junior Mac Tucker chipped in 9 assists and an ace. Senior Logan Carl added 3 kills, 4 digs, and 3 blocks, and sophomore Silas Hill and freshman Sam Bowers anchored the defense with 5 digs and 6 digs respectively. Head Coach Jason Fleming remained optimistic following the match, stating, “The team played well for the first match of the year. We saw some great net play and decent defense. We also saw some areas we will continue to work on.” The Tigers showed clear potential and look to build on their early-season experience as they continue to grow together. Warsaw returns home Thursday for a key NLC matchup against Northwood, with the JV match beginning at 6 PM. In JV action, the Tigers fell to Carroll in two sets (22–25, 16–25) but turned in a strong performance for their season opener. Coach Shirley Fleming was encouraged by the team’s effort, noting, “I thought they played well considering most have only been playing for two weeks. We have a lot of potential and will get better every time we step on the court.” The JV squad was led by Ryan Carens with 6 assists, Mason Silveus with 2 kills, John Conley with 3 digs, and Owen Barker with 4 digs.
