The Lady Tiger cross country team finished 4th at the regional meet at Huntington University Saturday, claiming one of the 5 spots available for the 2025 IHSAA State Finals in Terre Haute. Warsaw's 137 trailed only Concordia's 49, Homestead's 62 and Carroll's 133. "Today’s race was redemption in motion," said Coach Jason Fleming. Just a week removed from an 11-point setback to Columbia City, the Lady Tigers flipped the script and defeated the Lady Eagles by 10 points. Six of the seven LTXC runners recorded personal bests. Senior leader Sammi Rastrelli once again set the tone up front, delivering a sensational new PR of 18:17.9, earning 6th overall in a field stacked with elite competition. Sister Dani Rastrelli was right on her heels, running a fierce and confident race to finish 13th overall with a new PR of 18:47.8. The momentum carried through the entire lineup. Eden Metz showcased her competitive fire with a powerful kick and a new PR of 19:24.4, good for 23rd place. Abi Marsh ran the race of her season, slicing an incredible minute off her time from last week to post a PR of 20:00.2, finishing 47th. The team’s fifth scorer, Hannah Fisher, sealed the Tigers’ advancement with another big PR—20:25.4 for 60th place—helping lock in the team’s state berth. The depth of the squad was on full display as Savannah Purdy continued the PR parade with a strong 20:43.8 for 72nd place, while Katie “Bob” Robertson, returning to the lineup, showed resilience and consistency with a near-PR 20:52.0, finishing 78th. For the first time this season, all seven Lady Tigers crossed the line under 21 minutes—a testament to their unified drive and competitive spirit. Fleming reflected on the moment with pride and admiration. “This is the race we’ve been waiting for all season," he said. "Everyone had their best race of the year at the same time. It was a total team effort to make this happen today—it was something amazing to watch. I couldn’t have asked for more.” Warsaw will compete in the state championship race at the Laverne Gibson Course Saturday at 1pm See the full team and individual results by clicking here: https://www.tfrrs.org/results/xc/26221#event174686 Photos by Lynn Murphy.
