Unified Team's Offensive Explosion Leads to Win at Valley

By Roger Grossman | Oct 2, 2025 8:36 AM

The Warsaw Tigers poured on the offense Wednesday night in a thrilling 51-31 victory over the Tippy Valley Vikings on the road. Star playmaker Yohannes Schmitt once again stole the show, scoring multiple touchdowns on the ground while also tossing three scores through the air to lead the Tiger attack. The wide receivers were so fast and elusive that at times they seemed to be running right out of the field itself, even streaking through the back of the end zone as they stretched Tippy Valley’s defense thin. Key protection up front came from Nathan Nette, who consistently provided time for quarterbacks to escape pressure and throw deep downfield, turning broken plays into big gains. Defensively, the Tigers had no shortage of heroes. Ben “King Shark” Slabach came through with several solo flag pulls on what looked like sure Viking touchdowns, killing drives and keeping momentum on Warsaw’s side. Lilly Jarrett delivered what felt like the game’s decisive blow early in the second half with a 35-yard touchdown burst straight through the line, demoralizing Valley and putting the Tigers firmly in command. Brahdee Taylor also played a huge part in the offensive rhythm, wriggling free from pass rushers and hitting Schmitt on improvised connections that looked more like a backyard Nerf football game. The Tigers even got a glimpse of the future as Kinley Briscoe made her debut late in the second half and impressed in her first series under center. The southpaw showed poise and accuracy, completing three straight passes to move the chains and give Warsaw another chance at the end zone. With their mix of explosive playmaking, gritty defense, and an unshakable belief in the next play, Coach Bricker’s group once again proved why they’ve become one of the toughest teams to deal with this season. “I love how this team seems to be making lemons into lemonade out there,” Bricker said after the game. “Things haven’t always gone our way, but they don’t get rattled. They believe something good is going to happen on the next play and I love that about them.” The Tigers will be back in action this Saturday as they return to Valley for the Sectional.
