The Warsaw Unified Tigers capped off Senior Night in unforgettable fashion with a high-scoring 55-40 victory over the Goshen Redhawks at Fisher Field. Energized by the atmosphere and the significance of the night, the Tigers offense came out firing early and never looked back. Quarterback Yohannes Schmitt showcased his leadership and poise, delivering multiple touchdown strikes throughout the game. His connection with senior wideout Jaron Courtois and the steady hands of Sam McDaniels kept the chains moving, while Drew Jones electrified the Tiger faithful with two dazzling touchdown receptions that brought the crowd to its feet. Before the action even began, senior Ben "King Shark" Slabach inspired his teammates with a powerful pregame speech reminding them “to honor the game then and be grateful for the opportunity to play on Fisher Field.” Slabach went on to run circles around his opponents and teammates all night long. The Tigers also received a boost from their depth. When called upon, senior Eva Demopoulos stepped up impressively in the backup quarterback role, leading a critical late-game drive that drained valuable clock and showed her confidence under pressure. On that drive, freshman wide receiver Adi Purdy etched her name into Tigers history by securing the first reception of her career, a promising glimpse into her bright future as a Tiger. After the win, junior Timmy Yeager praised the group of seniors who have set the tone for the Tigers all season. “We have a ton of faith in our seniors. Nathan Nette, Ben ‘King Shark’ Slabach, Yohannes Schmitt, and Mason Anderson have been such good teammates and leaders. They have made it easy on all of us underclassmen. We love those guys.” Yeager said. The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday at home vs Elkhart.
