The Warsaw Tigers had plenty of bright moments in tonight’s 40-28 loss to the South Bend John Adams, with several standout performances that kept the game competitive. One of the highlights of the night came early in the first half from wideout Lillian Jarrett, who made an incredible sideline grab while tight-roping the boundary. Her acrobatic catch set the Tigers up with a prime chance for their second touchdown of the evening and gave her team a much-needed spark against the high-powered Eagles offense. Quarterback Yohannes Schmitt once again showed his versatility, throwing for multiple big gains while also snagging a score as a receiver in a play that caught Adams off guard. After the Eagles struck quickly in the second half, Ben "King Shark" Slabach immediately answered for Warsaw with a touchdown of his own. Slabach went the distance behind the savvy blocking of Nathan Nette. Slabach’s score kept the Tigers within one possession as momentum briefly shifted. Veteran leader Mason Anderson also made his impact felt playing with an abundance of joy that steadied Warsaw throughout the game. After the final whistle, Anderson reflected on his role with the group, saying, “I love my team. Everyone is always so proud of me, especially Beau (Goshert) and Eva (Demopoulos).” His words echoed the strong bond within the Tigers’ roster, even in defeat. The Tiger will be back in action next week as they travel to DeKalb to face the Barons.
