The Warsaw cross country teams competed in Round 1 of the NLC's three-pronged conference championship system at Ox Bow Park near Goshen. The Lady Tigers won their race with a team score of 54. The boys finished 7th. Freshman Dani Rastrelli finished 2nd overall with a time of 20:02. Coach Jason Fleming was impressed with his team's focus and discipline. "The girls executed their race plan with precision, working together in tight groups and moving as a unit through the challenging course. Their commitment to pack running and team-oriented racing proved decisive, as Warsaw edged Goshen 54–61 for the top spot." Under the updated system, each NLC Super Dual now counts for 20% of the season standings, with the Championship race making up the remaining 60%. Leading the way for the boys was junior Jack Boggs in 22nd place, followed by junior Nolan Stump (25th), freshman Spiros Christos (32nd), junior Alex Hoover (41st), sophomore Keenan Lyons (48th), junior Ben Mort (49th), and junior Jaxon Lehman (53rd). “We were very curious heading into this meet to see who would step up as our top runner,” said Coach Matt Campbell. “If you like consistency, then Jack Boggs was the answer. So far in his junior season, he’s been our No. 4, our No. 5, and now our No. 1 runner. That kind of consistency is something we value, especially when it comes time to make roster decisions during the tournament. Hopefully this performance gives him new confidence in himself.” The Tigers were missing key contributors, including senior Jackson Gackenheimer, who was held out as a coaching decision, and freshman Eli Swinehart, sidelined with a minor injury. Junior Nolan Stump, the team’s usual No. 3, was a game-time decision after battling illness but chose to race. Full results are attached.
