Randall Wins State High Jump Title, Tigers Finish 5th at Track & Field Finals

Led by a strong day and night in the field events, Warsaw finished 5th as a team at the boys state track and field finals at North Central High School in Indianapolis Saturday. Lawrence North won the championship with a team score of 47, followed by Bloomington North 45, Merrillville 40, Indianapolis North Central 35 and Warsaw 34. It started with Tiger junior Jordan Randall, who was seeded #1 in the state high jump competition. Randall backed it up with a state championship. Randall cleared the bar at 7'0", an inch higher than Nolan Johnston of Chesterton and 4 inches from the state record. James Leiter was 4th in the Discuss, while teammate Ben Booren was 8th and Kam Kauffman 9th. In the Shot Put ring, Leiter took 3rd in the final and Kauffman 8th. The boys 4 x 800 relay team of Noah McPhail, Clark Meridew, Rick Orr and Tyler Mimnaugh set a school-record with a time of 7:51.67 on their way to an 8th place finish. Jackson Gackenheimer was 6th in the 3200m. Sam Allebach (300m Hurdles) and Tucker Reed (Pole Vault) also competed at the the state finals for the Tigers.
