Boys Rugby Edges Marian

Warsaw 28 Marian 12 Warsaw ended their regular season with a scintillating performance from start to finish in a 28-12 win at the WCHS Rugby pitch Wednesday. Warsaw started by setting the pace for the game with excellent passing perfectly. The Tiger scored first after 12 minutes when Andrew Contreras crashed over for a Try. Sean Smith kicked the conversion. At 22 minutes Smith evaded several would-be tacklers to cross for the team's second Try. He added the conversion and put the Tigers up 14-0 at half time. The second half started with a frantic pace and a handling error that gave the ball to Marian who ran in for their opening Try. Marion kicked the conversion to put the score at 14-7. Warsaw would add a Try by Ivan Ponce and another conversion from Sean Smith to leave the score at 21-7. Marian would not give up and ran from their own 22 yard line to score a Try and close the gap to 21-12 Noah Wilkins crossed for the final Tiger Try. Sean Smith kicked the conversion from a tight angle to leave the final score at Warsaw 28 Marion 12. The Tigers will play in the Indiana State Championship tournament over Memorial weekend in Fishers.
