First-Inning Spurt Lead Warsaw Past Plymouth

The Warsaw Varsity baseball team scored 7 runs in the first inning and cruised to a 10-2 win over Plymouth Friday at Tiger Field. Plymouth scored first when Parker Wolfe homered to left field in the top of the 1st with a man aboard. Kellan Bailey and Cohen Heady singled home runs to level the score. Hunter Dippon launched a 3-run homer to center field to give Warsaw the lead, Rogan Bailey grounded into a run-scoring fielders choice, and another run scored on a Pilgrim error. The Tigers added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning after Bailey grounded out, and Wyatt Stapleton singled to left field, each scoring one run. Reed Nelson earned the win on the mound for Warsaw. He surrendered 2 hits and 2 runs over 4 innings, striking out 5 and walking 3. Dominick Vasquez took the loss for Plymouth. Brock Bowser, Quinton Brock, and Zac Miller each came on in relief for Warsaw. Brock, Dippon, and Oliver Nisen each collected two hits for the Tigers. The junior varsity lost to Plymouth at Boggs Park 12-3, committing 6 errors Warsaw Varsity Tigers will travel to Manchester Saturday.
