The boys rugby team was beaten in heartbreaking fashion 19-14 by a Leo try right at the end of the match Tuesday. Both teams entered the contest unbeaten so far this season. Leo took advantage of loose possession from Warsaw to drive home two early tries and build up a 14 a 0 lead. Warsaw soon found their rhythm and passing down the line was impeccable. Warsaw asserted their dominance in the scrum and began to gain ground. Warsaw’s opening try came on 26 minutes from Andrew Contreras, with Sean Smith kicking the conversion. The halftime score was Leo 12 Warsaw 7. Warsaw took command in the second half with Luiz Muniz crossing for a Try after two minutes. Sean Smith once again kicked the conversion to leave the score at 14-12. Warsaw was reduced to 14 men late in the match, and sustained Leo pressure resulted in a Try right at the final minute to win 19-14. Warsaw’s next game will be on Wednesday, April 30th, at 6pm at Warsaw Community High School.
