Baseball Opens NLC With Blowout of Wawasee

The Tiger baseball team won big over Wawasee 12-0 on Monday in Syracuse. Warsaw Varsity Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kellan Bailey drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring one run. Cohen Heady then singled home three runs and Oliver Nisen drove in another with a single. Rogan Bailey completed the big first inning, laying down a bunt bring home another Tiger tally. Warsaw Varsity Tigers scored five runs on two hits in the top of the third inning. Wyatt Stapleton doubled, scoring two runs, Quinton Brock singled, scoring two runs, and Bailey grounded out, scoring one run. Brock Bowser earned the win for Warsaw Varsity Tigers. The hurler allowed no runs and no hits over three innings, striking out six and walking two. Brandt Martin tossed two innings of scoreless ball in relief, giving up one hit, striking out four and walking one. Mason O'Malley, Brock, Aiden Etner, Logan Kim, Stapleton, Heady, and Nisen each collected one hit for Warsaw Varsity Tigers. Brock and Stapleton each drove in two runs for Warsaw. The Tigers showed great patience at the plate, drawing 11 walks for the game. Bailey and Heady led the team with two bases on balls each. Stapleton stole two of Warsaw's five stolen bases in the game. Warsaw plays at home on Wednesday against Goshen in their next game. Warsaw's JV also beat Wawasee 14-0, scoring 13 of their 14 runs in their last three at bats in the 5-inning game.
