Senior night for the Warsaw boys rugby team was a memorable one, with the Tigers routing Homestead 70-7 Friday. Once the Senior festivities were completed Warsaw quickly kicked into action with beautiful passing down the line and impressive rucking. Their power in the scrum was superior and won many early lineouts. The opening Try came on 20 minutes from Luis Muniz. The conversion was kicked by Sean Smith to put Warsaw 7-0 up. Playing a very aggressive defensive line, Homestead intercepted a Warsaw pass and ran 60 yards for their opening Try on 22 minutes. Warsaw quickly responded with two Trys, from Luis Muniz and Andrew Contreras, with conversions from Sean Smith, to leave the halftime score at 21-7 in favor of Warsaw. The second half display by Warsaw was some of the most impressive rugby they have played in many years. Their passing down the line was fluid and tactical kicking was productive. Luis Muniz ran over for 2 Try’s, and Sean Smith kicked all conversions. Sean Smith scored two Try’s for himself and kicked the conversions also With the gap widened, Warsaw made many substitutions and a late Trys by Ivan Ponce and Tyler Brito sealed the final score at 70 points to 7. The next game is against Leo at Warsaw High school at 6 PM on Tuesday, April 22nd.
