The Warsaw Tigers traveled to Goshen Monday night and came away with a thrilling 40-38 victory over the RedHawks in a game that came down to the final moments. After battling through a tough loss to DeKalb and then answering with a hard-fought win over NorthWood, the Tigers once again showed the toughness and togetherness that has defined this team all season. Yohannes Schmitt continued to be a difference-maker for Warsaw, using his athleticism and playmaking ability to keep the Tiger offense moving and put pressure on the Goshen defense. Schmitt once again showed why he has been such an important part of the Tiger attack, making plays with both his arm and his legs. Timmy Yeager and Evan Goshert continued to provide steady quarterback play and gave Warsaw the opportunities it needed to keep the offense rolling. Yeager once again showed his ability to come up with difficult catches and make plays when the Tigers needed them most. Garrett Davis continued to make his presence felt after making an immediate impact at tight end in his first game at the position last week. Anna Seewald brought her trademark energy and toughness to the center position, helping the Tigers move the football while keeping her teammates fired up. Lillie Jarrett again showed the same relentless effort that has become a staple of her game, making plays and battling from the opening whistle to the final play. Sensi Sprankle continued to make an impact on both sides of the ball, giving Warsaw another versatile player who can change the game in multiple ways. Autumn Columbia once again played with tremendous effort, making it difficult for Goshen to find easy opportunities. The Tigers faced plenty of adversity throughout the contest, but they continued to answer every Goshen challenge. In a game separated by only two points, every possession, defensive stop and extra point mattered. Warsaw’s ability to make enough plays in the biggest moments ultimately allowed the Tigers to escape Goshen with the 40-38 victory. The win gives the Tigers another important conference victory and provides even more momentum heading into Wednesday night’s trip to Elkhart.
