After last weekend's disappointing win by default caused by the team from Portage thinking their match here was Sunday, the Lady Tigers traveled away to their first game of the season against Grand Haven--Michigan's current state champions. Warsaw came home with a 31-31 tie. The first half was back and forth with both teams trading tries and conversions. With Grand Haven ahead at half time leading 19 to 14, Warsaw took a 2 point lead in the game with an early try and conversion. The Tigers then extended their lead out to 28 to 19 with a try and conversion. Grand Haven then scored a try and conversion to narrow the gap to 2 points 28 to 26. Warsaw continued to push hard, nearly scoring again but just failed to do so. Grand Haven conceded a penalty near their goal posts and Warsaw kicked the penalty goal extending their lead by three to 5 points. A last minute try under the posts by Grand Haven on a breakaway run leveled the score to 31 to 31 with the conversion to come. The conversion kick was missed and the final score ended in a draw. Warsaw tries were scored by Ruby Orozco 2, Jewelia Stavedahl and Niomi Samaranayake 1 try each. Conversions Luciana Viera 4 and 1 penalty goal. Grand Haven players voted Niomi Samaranayake as MVP.
