Matt Campbell has been selected as the next head coach of the Warsaw boys track & field team. Campbell (shown holding the trophy) brings more than a decade of experience within the Warsaw Track & Field and Cross Country programs, and this will be his first head coaching role in track and field. He currently serves as the Head Coach of the Warsaw Boys Cross Country program and is a Special Education Teacher at Warsaw Community High School. A Warsaw graduate, Campbell and his wife, Emily, are both proud Tigers and members of the Warsaw Community Schools staff. Emily serves as the Assistant Director of the Warsaw Area Career Center Cooperative. "I am honored and excited for the opportunity to lead the Warsaw Boys Track & Field program," Campbell said. "Having been part of this program for more than ten years, I have a deep appreciation for its tradition, history, and the people who have helped make it successful. This is a new challenge for me professionally, and I look forward to building on the strong foundation that is already in place." Pending school board approval, Campbell takes over a program that has enjoyed consistent success at the conference, sectional, regional, and state levels. He believes the future remains bright with a strong group of returning athletes and emerging talent throughout the program. "We have a tremendous group of young men returning and a lot of motivated athletes who are eager to continue the rich tradition of Warsaw Track & Field," Campbell added. "Our goal will be to continue developing student-athletes, competing at a high level, and creating a positive experience for every athlete in the program." Campbell was also quick to recognize the impact that former Head Coach Scott Erba has had on both the program and his own coaching career. "I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to Coach Scott Erba," Campbell said. "Over the past decade, he has been an outstanding mentor, leader, and friend. I have learned so much from him about building relationships, leading a coaching staff, and creating a culture where athletes can thrive. The success and stability of this program are a direct reflection of the work Coach Erba has put in over the years. I am incredibly thankful for everything he has done for Warsaw Track & Field and for the opportunity to learn alongside him." One of Campbell's top priorities will be maintaining continuity within the coaching staff. "My first priority is working to bring back our current coaching staff," Campbell said. "We have an outstanding group of coaches who care deeply about our athletes and are incredibly dedicated to the success of the program. Their experience, passion, and commitment have been instrumental to our success, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside them." Campbell's coaching background includes more than 14 years of experience at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. Over the past decade, he has been part of Warsaw programs that have enjoyed success at the conference, sectional, regional, and state levels while continuing to grow participation and develop student-athletes. He hopes to build on that foundation and continue the tradition of excellence that has been established within Warsaw Track & Field.. As he begins his tenure, Campbell emphasized his commitment to preserving the program's culture while continuing to invest in the growth and development of Warsaw student-athletes. "I am grateful for the trust that has been placed in me," Campbell said. "I look forward to serving our athletes, families, coaches, and community as we work together to continue the tradition of excellence that defines Warsaw Track & Field."
