The Warsaw boys and girls track teams won Northern Lakes Conference championships Tuesday at the soggy Tiger Athletic Complex. The girls won by the closest of margins, outlasting Plymouth 132-131. It was a full-circle moment for the Lady Tigers, who had their 105-meet winning streak snapped by the Lady Pilgrims back in April. They won the title despite only having two event winners: Eden Metz won the 800 m and Cassie Jackson won the Discus, The boys won with a team score of 161, which topped Northridge's 122. The boys were led by conference champions Tucker Reed in the 100 m, Long Jump and Pole Vault; Zander Bail in the 110 m Hurdles; the 4 x 100 m Relay team of Cayson Johnson, Benjamin Harp, Reed and Parker VanDusen; Sam Allebach in the 300 m Hurdles; Jackson Gackenheimer in the 3200 m; the 4 x 400 m Relay Team of Michael Schenck, Isaak Kennedy, Miles Rager and Allebach; and Jordan Randall in the High Jump. For Randall, it marked his final NLC competition...and he finished unbeaten in those dual meets and conference meets. "This marks the 5th consecutive season of the Warsaw Tigers being undefeated in dual meets and being undefeated NLC Meet champions," Coach Scott Erba said in the rain after the meet. "This is a testament to our coaches and athletes who bring their best everyday and strive to get better everyday. I could not be more proud of how our guys responded to adverse conditions and high quality competition throughout every event. They made a statement tonight that was loud and powerful." Full results for both the meets are attached.
