Rugby Teams Both Win This Weekend

BOYS: Warsaw 29- Leo 22 Warsaw continued their winning season with an impressive victory over Leo, the current State runners-up, 29-22 Friday night. Within the opening minute, Sean Smith scored a Penalty to give Warsaw an early lead. Leo responded effectively and scored Trys on 7 and 16 minutes. With power and strength in their Forwards, Leo were breaking through tackles. Warsaw continued to put pressure on Leo and were rewarded when Waylon Turpin stretched for a Try on 25 minutes. Sean Smith scored the conversion. On the stroke of halftime, Luis Muniz Bermudez dashed 20 meters to score a Try to put Warsaw 3 points ahead at the interval. The second half was a physical battle and where Warsaw played their best Rugby. 10 minutes into second half Liam Smith ran 30 meters to score a Try. Christian Cullers broke free and ran 40 meters, passing to Sean Smith who ran over for a Try. Smith also scored the conversion. Warsaw have improved with each match and are now in contention for a place in the State semi-finals. GIRLS: Warsaw 57- Westfield 12 The Lady Tigers traveled to Westfield Saturday and were dominant in a 57-12 win over the Shamrocks. Warsaw scored the first two tries of the match before Westfield answered to make the score 12-5. Warsaw would add two more scores before halftime, then poured it on in the second half. Warsaw's power and strength wore down the Shamrocks in the second half and dominated possession time.
