Baseball Falls at NorthWood

The varsity baseball team fell 3-2 to NorthWood on Tuesday in a game moved to the field turf at NorthWood because of recent rains. Warsaw falls to 2-6 on the young season. With Warsaw trailing 1-0 in the 3rd, Grady Nelson tripled to right, tying the game at 1-1. Grady Nelson tripled to right field, which helped Warsaw Varsity Tigers tie the game at one in the top of the third. Mason O’Malley’s bunt brought home Warsaw’s other run and gave the Tigers the lead in the 4th. NorthWood took the lead back in the bottom of the 5th and made it hold up over the final two frames. Mark Haynes took the loss for the Tigers. He pitched 5 innings, surrendering 3 runs on 6 hits, striking out 2 and walking 4. Brody Heady pitched the final inning, giving up 1 hit. The Tigers outhit the Panthers 8-7. Spencer Love led Warsaw Varsity Tigers with two hits. Warsaw will travel to Northridge Wednesday. The junior varsity beat NorthWood 11-8, scoring all 11 runs in their final five at-bats. Box scores for both games are attached.
