Boys Rugby 1-1 After Impressive Win at Homestead

The Tiger boys rugby side put up an impressive performance in a 31-5 win at Homestead Wednesday. Warsaw dominated from the start and went ahead with a Penalty kick from Sean Smith. Smith. Andrew Contreras and Christian Cullers were highly impressive driving forward with great power, while Harper Woods managed to tempo of the match. Midway through the first half Contreras made a dominating run, powering through tackles to cross for the match’s opening Try. Sean Smith scored the conversion kick. The ensuing possession saw Warsaw mishandle the ball, which handed possession back to Homestead inside the 22 meter line, and the Spartans punished Warsaw with a Try. Warsaw regained control of the game and another powerful run from Contreras was stopped just short at the Try line. Aaron Herrera gathered the ball to cross for a Try to extend Warsaw’s lead. Once again, Sean Smith added the conversion kick. That put the Tigers in front 17-5 at halftime. The second half saw Warsaw maintaining good field position, setting up the Try of the match. Smith broke a tackle in his own half, sprinted forward beating three Homestead Backs, to cross for a Try between the posts. Smith converted the conversion.
