The Warsaw Tigers extended their undefeated season with a win over the NorthWood Panthers by a score of 90 to 42. Coming off two solid efforts last week, the Tigers showed their depth by producing incredible efforts from athletes in multiple events. In the 3200m Run alone, there were 13 of 13 Personal Best times shattered by the distance runners. However, the most notable effort was put forth by the 4x100m team of Cayson Johnson, Jordan Randall, Tucker Reed, and Parker VanDusen in racing uncontested to a new school record of 42.23, a full .4 seconds clear of the prior record. Outstanding performances on the night included event winners: Jordan Randall (High Jump) Tucker Reed (100m and Long Jump) Cooper Hummitch (Pole Vault) Miles Rager (200m) Zander Bail (110 Hurdles) Sam Allebach (300 Hurdles) 4x400m (Sam Allebach, Isaak Kennedy, Nolan Stump, Michael Schenck) Other outstanding efforts from the Warsaw Tigers included: Nolan Stump (Pole Vault) cleared 13’0” for the first time in competition Jaxon Lehman had a 20 second PB in the 3200m Isaak Kennedy ran a new PB in the 400m in finishing 2nd Miles Rager, Cayson Johnson, and Parker VanDusen all broke 23 seconds in the first time and are the fastest 200m runners at Warsaw in the past 10 years. Robbie Straughan ran two personal bests in the 100m and 200m Next up for the Tigers is the Penn HS JV Invitational and the Carmel 3200m Classic (elite distance runners) on Friday, April 24. Next week, on Wednesday, April 29, Warsaw will head to Northridge for the always competitive meet with the Concord Minutemen and Northridge Raiders for the regular season conference lead. On Friday, May 1 we will host 8 other great teams at our Max Truex Invitational starting at 6:00. WE WILL NEED HELP…please sign up to clerk, be a relay judge, help at a Field Event, or cheer us on! You have already mentioned several individuals who had standout performances but how is the team progressing as a whole? “I love seeing a variety of athletes stepping up to compete and perform at higher levels. This sport is all about self improvement and the data you receive is very clear: the watches and measuring tapes do not lie. Whether it is a new JV athlete or a seasoned Varsity athlete, if we are making continuous improvements in practice and meet performances, we are heading in the right direction. I have always believed that if we consistently prepare the best way possible and truly compete and push ourselves in meets, we have already won…we are already successful. Points and team wins take care of themselves. I am thrilled at the progress we have made in sprints over the past few seasons. In the past, we have been scratching out small victories and picking up a few points here and there but we can now count on our sprinters to contribute mightily to the total team success. Seeing these guys set a new school record in the 4x100m was amazing and a relief. Now, they can run freely knowing anything else is pure icing on the cake. We are establishing ourselves as one of the top teams in the conference and some of the depth and high levels of performances we have shown are better than last year’s NLC championship squad. However, we are not competing against last year’s opponents; we need to continue to push ourselves and take on this year’s challenges.” Full results are attached.
