A big early-season NLC baseball showdown went to Goshen Wednesday as the Redhawks topped the Tigers 11-1 in six innings. Goshen got on the board with 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning after Colton Rapp singled down the right field line, Jaxon Miller tripled to center field, and Bryson Wilson flew out, each scoring one run. Warsaw scored their run in their half of the 2nd, but Goshen tacked on 4 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Tiger starting pitcher Mark Haynes took the loss. In 2 innings, he was charged with 7 earned runs on 4 hits, striking out 1 and walking 4. Ben Zartman pitched 3.1 innings in relief and allowed 5 hits and 4 runs while, striking out 2 and walking none. Quinton Brock, Logan Kim, Grady Nelson, and Spencer Love each collected one hit for Warsaw. The junior varsity team beat Goshen 7-3. Warsaw Varsity Tigers will travel to Plymouth for their next game on Friday. The box score from tonight's games are attached.
