SENIOR SENDOFF: Parrott Dives into History Books

By Roger Grossman | Apr 2, 2026 1:34 PM

Ian Parrott walked out onto the diving board at the 2026 IHSAA State Finals with one dive left in his career knowing the he had to nail it to have a chance at winning the state championship. And like everything else in his life, he took on that moment head first. Parrott's last leap into the pool in Indianapolis won him the state diving championship and made him the second Tiger to ever to wear the medal with the blue ribbon at the state finals. Ian's resume includes records for the highest score for 11 dives and pool records at Warsaw, Northridge and Concord. He has broken the high school 6- and 11-dive list at Warsaw several times--3 times this season. He also owns the NLC meet record, the Warsaw sectional record, and the Warsaw Dive Invite record. Ian has won sectionals three years in a row, getting 2nd his freshman year to a teammate. He won regionals three years in a row, getting 8th his freshman year. "He was the one of two freshman in the state diving order final that made it to state his freshman year, which was when I noticed the potential he had his senior year," says Coach Anthony DeBrota. "His freshman year, he placed 23rd and did not make finals. His sophomore year he made constellations, barely missing out on a podium finish at 9th place. His Junior year, he jumped rank high to 3rd place. Then he finished the job placing first his senior year. A very incredible run and such a memorable ride to becoming a state champion." Congratulations, Ian!
