The Class of 2026 for Warsaw Wrestling went out with a bang on Wednesday night with a 38-32 win on Senior Night over South Bend Riley. The night started with the bigs as the 285 pound matchup saw a ton of action in the first period before Riley would take the win by pinfall. At 106 pounds, Riley racked up points early and put the match away with another pin to take a 12-0 lead. The Tigers got on the board with a win at 113 pounds. Ivahn Martinez trailed 6-1 at the end of the first period but rallied back with takedowns in the next two periods to force overtime. In the extra period, Martinez earned a takedown into a pinfall to move the team score to 6-12. At 120 pounds, senior Alex Vallejo kept things rolling for Warsaw with a pin in the third period - tying the score at 12-12. Next up for the Tigers was senior 126, Gabe Veit. In an unusually low scoring affair, Veit broke a 2-2 tie late in the third period with a takedown to win a 5-2 decision and give Warsaw their first lead of the night. Warsaw put up points early at 132 pounds, but SB Riley was able to rally and win by tech fall to retake the lead at 17-15. They paired that up with a late rally at 138 to win by pin and extend the lead to 23-15. Senior 144 pounder Leo Castro got things rolling again for Warsaw. He was able to methodically grind away points and come up with a 9-2 win by decision. The Tigers got a great effort at 150, but a late rally in the third period came up short and Riley would pick up another 3 team points. Warsaw picked up 3 points of their own at 157. Zander Moore picked up an early takedown in the first period and was able to grind away two periods of rideouts to win 3-0 and move the team score to 21-26. Senior 165 Enrique Silva dominated his opponent, picking up a 15-0 first period tech fall. His win pushed the meet into a 26-26 tie with 3 matches to go. Warsaw fought tough at 175, but Riley pulled out a third period pin to go up 32-26. A pair of seniors for Warsaw got the chance to close out the dual in their last home contest. Liam Smith looked impressive in his second period pin at 190 pounds that tied the team score at 32. Beckham Boylan then took the mat at 215 to close things out for the Tigers. After an early takedown, he worked into a late first period finish and sealed the 38-32 win for Warsaw with a pin. The night also held 14 JV matchups prior to the varsity contest. The Tigers picked up wins in 8 of those matches. JV winners for the Tigers were: Andrew Hankins, Aydon Long, Brandan Wolf, Walker Perry, Luki Juarez-Silvestre, Maddyx Derf, Aydin Cook, and Ethan Cook. Warsaw's dual record moves to 11-4.
