Girls Wrestling Loses Tight One to Rochester

Varsity vs Rochester High School (36 - 45) Loss The Warsaw Wrestling teams hosted the Rochester boys and girls today. The Lady Tigers filled 13 out of 14 weight classes, forfeiting the 235 weight class. We started the dual at 190. Elizabeth Long wrestled up for us again and pulled through with an exciting 3rd period pin to put the Lady Tigers in the lead, 6-0. 235- Warsaw forfeited the match and the score moved to 6-6. At 100 Jayde Fifer came out for her varsity debut and earned 6 points for the Lady Tigers by forfeit. 105- Freshman Mariana Morgan wrestled a fantastic match, but Rochester won the match and the score moved to 12-12 110- Jocelyn Snyder snagged another forfeit for the Lady Tigers earning 6 points for the team. 115- Freshman Mya Williamson wrestled well and smart but Rochester ended up winning the match by Tech in the 2nd period making the team score 18-17. 120- Rochester won the match by pin pulling them ahead now 18-23. 125- Kynna Yoder battled in the first period and Rochester chose top in the second. Kynna reversed and pinned Rochester to bring the Lady Tigers back ahead to 24-23. 130- Rochester won the match by pin putting them back ahead 24-29. 135- Emma DeWald for the Lady Tigers recieved a Forfeit, making the score 30-29. 140- Rochester won the match by pin. 145- Marely Gutierrez wrestled a tough match with great defense and situational awareness, she lost the match by major. Rochester leads 30-39. 155- Mariana Castro picks up a Forfeit bringing the tigers closer 36-39. 170- Audi Gonzalez wrestled up to 170 and fought hard, but Rochester won the match by pin moving the overall score for the dual to 36-45. The Lady Tigers next competition will be at Sectionals Next Friday!
