Boys Basketball Beats Blackhawk, Bags First Win

Warsaw earned their first win of the season by holding down one of the best offensive teams in the state. The Tigers topped FW Blackhawk Christian Saturday 45-34 in the Champions of Character Classic and Grace College Saturday afternoon. Warsaw fell behind 7-0 early, and trailed 11-5 at the end of the quarter when Mydin Burgher beat the clock for a 3-pointer for the Tigers' only field goal of the quarter. Warsaw rallied in the 2nd to tie the game at 20, and both teams scored 9 in the 3rd to leave the game tied at 29 headed to the final eight minutes. A Sam McDaniels 3-pointer put the Tigers up 5 at 34-29, and they never looked back. Burgher led the Tigers with 16 points, while Drew Jones added 13. Warsaw will host Wawasee Friday and travel to Carroll Saturday night.
