Varsity Boys Wrestling Goes 4-1 at Northridge, JV Sends 24 to Plymouth Invite

The Tiger grapplers put together a great performance at the Northridge Super Duals on Saturday with a 4-1 record. Warsaw’s only loss came in the first round against Northwood. The Panthers built an early lead that the Tigers couldn’t quite overcome, beating the Tigers 43-30. The next round the Tigers matched up with another conference rival in Northridge. This time it would be Warsaw building an early lead and riding the storm out late to secure a 38-34 victory. The rest of the day was heavy on the gas pedal for the Tigers as they would score big in all three rounds. Warsaw faced Edwardsburg in round three and won 54-18. The Tigers battled Fort Wayne Snider in round 4. Warsaw got some massive wins by pin in key matches and ran the final score to 54-23. Homestead’s varsity 2 was the final opponent for the Tigers. Warsaw again rallied early with wins by pin and wrapped up the day with a 59-18 win. Warsaw’s record moves had 4 wrestlers go undefeated on the day: Nolan Stump at 120, Gabe Veit at 126, Leo Castro at 144, and Owen Corbin at 285. 4 other wrestlers went 4-1: Ivahn Martinez at 113, KC Smith at 138, Zander Moore at 157, and Enrique Silva at 165. Warsaw’s record moves to 9-3 overall and 3-3 in the NLC. Warsaw had 24 wrestlers compete at the Plymouth JV Invitational on Saturday.
